The Money Tree

You can find them in certain parts of the United Kingdom loaded with coins. The catch is, rather than taking money from the tree, passers-by give money to the tree. People wishing for good luck or wishing to rid themselves of an illness will grab a nearby rock and hammer a coin into the tree. In the case of an illness, according to a centuries old legend, the tree will take on whatever ailment you have, which might explain why many of the money trees have fallen dead. The legend also warns that the tree shouldn’t be used as a get rich scheme, because thou who taketh a coin, shall receivith thy just ill.
